Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 28

Requesting the Division of Highways to name the 17th Street Bridge in Huntington, West Virginia, the "Nick Joe Rahall II Bridge".

Whereas, Nick Joe Rahall II of Beckley, West Virginia, has served the citizens of the city of Huntington as their representative in the United States House of Representatives since 1977; and
Whereas, The many contributions of U. S. Representative Nick Joe Rahall II to Huntington, West Virginia, should not go unnoticed; and
Whereas, U. S. Representative Nick Joe Rahall II, by use of his seniority in the House of Representatives and his ranking status on numerous congressional committees, has fought for the citizens of Huntington to secure federal moneys for a myriad of projects which have boosted the economy and brought new business not only to Huntington but to all of Cabell County; and
Whereas, As a result of the continuing efforts of U. S. Representative Nick Joe Rahall II for the citizens of Huntington, it is fitting that a tribute be paid to him for his many years of dedicated public service; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of Highways to name the 17th Street Bridge in Huntington, West Virginia, the "Nick Joe Rahall II Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Secretary of Transportation, the Commissioner of the Division of Highways, the Governor of West Virginia and United States Representative Nick Joe Rahall II.
